ESP Edwards E-KL-170 Kiko Loureiro Signature

Después de una larga espera, por fin tengo en mis manos este guitarrón, la Edwards E-KL-170SE, o Kiko Loureiro Signature. Para probarla, nada mejor que una buena backing track. Y aunque está lleno de fallos, pues algo es algo…

Check out my metal guitar instrumental CD here: www.cdbaby.com Just a clip of an original song of mine with some info about the gear I used for the guitar tones. The song is called “Zombies Go To Funland”. I used the ESP Edwards John Sykes LP guitar with Seymour Duncan Distortion pickups into my Peters Gryphon. Enjoy.

wow! i was thinking of getting one but the price blew me away lol super fantastic guitar though!!
It was 2.250 €.
I know it’s insane and originally I didn’t want to spend that much, but I testdrived it at the music store and I instantly knew I wouldn’t want to play any other guitar. It’s a beauty! ^^
@megatroll you serious?! how much did it cost?

Hey mate awesome impro! If I PM’ed you my email could you send me that backing track?
yeah i had a look on his profile, there is some mean guitars there!
I highly recommend this asiaguitar seller to you, in fact i have purchased the same kiko sig but in black alder body from the same seller, ship with ESP hardshell case
awesome thanks for that!
It costed me about 1300€ including shipping and customs duty.
The neck is totally awesome. It’s so comfortable that i could use it as a pillow lol. I bought it in ebay to a seller called “asia guitars”.
Yes, the fretboard is scalloped from 12th fret to 27.
Also it haves one SD hot rails humbucker in the neck and a SD tb14 humbucker in the bridge. Both they give an incredible and powerfull sound.
Also, if you pull up the tone potentiometer you can turn the humbuckers into single coils to sound like a strato. I can sure you that the sound changes so much.
oh and how much??
thanks again!
woah great guitar! what are the specs like? hows the neck compared to an ibanez?? and where did you get it from??
is it scalloped??
sorry for the questions i just want that guitar!
great playing btw!

En efecto

Tell me what you think about it when you have it!
@firejack018 one more question how are these for clean?
aha im thinkin of puttin the sd distortion in my bc rich draco ghost xD
@dynasty206
In an LP style guitar, the Duncan Distortions should sound ace.
awesome man!! how do you think thoughts pick ups would sound in my epiphone les paul standard?
@firejack018
I have a ESP Eclipse II guitar with Duncan JB and 59 pickups in it. The 59 is ok but the JB is too muddy for my taste. I’m going to put a Duncan Distortion Mayhem set in it
I’m also thinking of ordering a Mayones Setius 7-string (handmade in Poland) with Painkillers in it
Ok, I see! Cool
@MustGroove76
Heya thanks mate.
Glad you dig it.
The Edwards LP is tuned to C# so that when I drop the low C# string for drop tuning, it’s in B so I can pair it with my 7String.
I use D’Addario .012′s (EXL145) for the Edwards in C#.
What guitars are you getting the Duncans & the BKP’s for?
Those pickups seem to love mahogany/maple guitars.
Cheers man.
Listening to your cd now, it took me 5 days to get it from cdbaby to Norway
Do you use drop D-tuning and 0.11 strings? I love your guitar sound man!
I’m getting the Duncan Distortions and Bare Knuckle Painkillers for all my guitars
@MustGroove76
Thanks mate.
The Distortion bridge is very crunchy and matches well with mahogany/maple.
I’ve never tried it in any other tonewood though.
@andakimo
Cheers mate.
Can’t go wrong with Edwards and Duncan.
@Meatballstar
For the recording I used Vintage 30 speaker sims.
My actual cabs are Lopo 2×12′s with different speaker configurations.
Celestion V30′s.
Celestion V30 x Celestion G12H.
WGS Veteran 30 x WGS British Lead.
@5150VanAlien
Don’t know about the nitro or lacquer thing.
All I know is the guitar has great unplugged tone.
Also, I’m no Gibson LP expert so I can’t specifically answer your neck question.
All I can say is the neck feels nice and meaty but not too chunky.
Perfect for my tastes.
Hope this helps.
@tamh12345
I agree with Twilightdagger.
Get a lower output neck pickup for more diversity.
The Duncan Distortion neck is very hot and tends to break up on a clean channel.
I use it with coil splits for clean tones but it’s still not ideal for the job.
@jimllfaxit
Thanks mate, appreciate the compliment.
Hi,
Are those Duncan distortion pickups THAT tight and crunchy?
I’m just used to the muddy Duncan JB…
WOW! Great song and GREAT guitar sound!
Are those Duncans really that dark and tight??
I’m only used to the muddy Duncan JB’s…
Awesome video, thank you !
Very demonstrative of both ESP Edwards lute-making quality and of course Seymour Duncan too..
I want to buy a very similar Edwards guitar, but with the new active Seymour Blackout pickups !
So this makes me confident with Edwards guitars
Hey mate, what cabs u running it thru?
Hey there, lovely Edwards.
I’m thinking of buying one too. Can you please tell me, is the finish nitro like Gibson’s or lacquer?
And is the neck thick like a 57 or slimmer like a 60′s Les Paul.
Thanks
@tamh12345
sounds like the duncan distortions would be perfect for what you play. I couldn’t recommend a pup better than that for the stuff you play. Just make sure you have a nice neck pup like the jazz or ’59 for the melodic/bluesier stuff.
Will you please give me info & details on the pickups? I need info on what tones they’re good for, what type of music they can handle… And I also would like a recommendation as to weather I should put these in my guitar or not: I play heavy stuff sometimes, but I also sometimes write soft melodies. Here’s a list a bands I cover to give you an idea:
Metallica (a lot) , Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, And I love to play me some blues.
Great playing and a great instrumental.Cool axe too.
Yes, they are the Duncan Distortion Mayhem Set.
SH6 bridge and neck models.
sh6 pickups?
Good luck with it mate.
And let me know which high-gain channel you end up with.
Sure thing Hillsmith.
I run my Gryphon with a boost pedal (Tubescreamer/808) to get just a little more tightness in the lowend.
I’m guessing that the Hydra will be somewhat closer to these types of tones using just the amp, so the Hydra is probably perfect if you want this type of tone without having to use a boost.
But this is pure conjecture on my part, as I’ve never actually heard the Hydra. I’m just going by what James Peters has told me in emails.
Best bet is to contact James.
